Over 200 Million People Suffer from Water Scarcity, Good Water Management is a Key Starting Point for a More Eco-conscious Life

The average lifestyle worldwide demands over 6,000 liters per day. If each person learned to conserve just a little more water, we could achieve significant savings. So, we offer you Eco-conscious data and tips so that you too can do your part. Because every drop counts, and every person adds up.

Better a Shower than a Bath

The WHO advises that showers should not exceed five minutes in duration. Filling a bathtub consumes up to 300 liters of water, while a 5-minute shower would use around 80 liters, and if you have a shower aerator, consumption can be reduced to 60 liters. Also, remember not to exceed 30ºC, not only for savings but also for skin health.

Control Your Water consumption

Turning off the tap while lathering soap or brushing teeth is a great start. For every minute the tap is left running, you waste 1 liter of water down the drain. Also, if you collect the water that comes out of the tap while waiting for it to heat up, you can reuse it for watering plants, cleaning, and washing.

Water your Plants with Cold water from the shower

You can save water in various ways when landscaping or gardening. If you have a rainwater harvesting system, that’s great. If not, you can do it manually. Opt for native and resistant plants because nature is wise, and this way you’ll need to water less frequently. Also, remember to do it at night; watering during the day can result in up to 30% loss due to evaporation.

Pack more clothes every time you use the washer

To reduce water usage compared to using the washing machine, it’s recommended to minimize the number of washes per week, fill the machine, use short cycles, and opt for cold water. Doing laundry when it’s full can save you from 2,500 to 2,800 liters every month.

Save Water

If you upgrade the showerhead and sink fixtures by incorporating pressure reducers, you’ll dramatically reduce your water consumption. Also, opt for low-volume toilets and dual flushes; make sure to use the smaller button when disposing of liquid waste. And remember, it’s not a trash can!

Check bathroom and kitchen plumbing

It’s very common for homes to have water leaks. For every dripping faucet, we generate an approximate expenditure of 0.03 liters per minute. Likewise, leaky toilets can produce a cost of 0.8 liters per minute. Check your installations and avoid headaches.

Wash Dishes Smartly

If you wash by hand, clean them with the sponge with the tap closed as much as possible and only reopen it when rinsing. You can also use eco-friendly dish soap to minimize contamination. If you use a dishwasher, remember to opt for an energy-efficient one and fill it up with each wash, adapting the cycles to your needs.

Take Care of Your Pool Water

To avoid frequent water changes, take care of it! By using sodium hypochlorite or solid chlorine tablets, we can keep it in good condition for months. You can also use some type of cover to prevent it from getting dirty more quickly.
