As part of FITUR 2024, Grupo Piñero celebrated the second edition of its “Most Ecocentric” Awards. In this context, the initiative aims to recognize companies in the tourism sector that demonstrate strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, these awards highlight innovative projects that contribute to a more responsible and sustainable tourism industry. As a result, they have become a key meeting point for leading companies in the sector.
Ceremony at FITUR 2024: A Meeting Point for Sustainability
The ceremony took place at stand 3B03 in IFEMA Madrid. In addition, the event was moderated by Raquel Nogueira, editor of Enclave ODS in El Español.
The event was attended by Isabel Piñero, Chief Sustainability Officer of Grupo Piñero. Likewise, naturalist and environmental communicator José Luis Gallego received honorary recognition for his outstanding work in environmental awareness and sustainability consulting.
Ecocentric Design: The Award Sculpture
The awards were designed by Antonio Rizo, an artist from Murcia originally from Mula, the Piñero family’s hometown. Moreover, the design reflects the Ecocentric philosophy through a symbolic combination of natural and recycled materials.
The sculpture features a natural engraved wood base. On top of it, a second element is made from thermo-pressed recycled plastic obtained from used water containers. In this way, the piece represents the transformation of waste into value.
Therefore, the award symbolizes both environmental responsibility and creative reuse of materials, reinforcing the message of sustainable tourism innovation.
