At Somos Eco\u00edstas, we want to highlight the importance of continuing to plant trees and how each of us can contribute to this cause, even from the comfort of our homes.<\/p>

One of the most inspiring stories in the field of reforestation is that of Brazilian photographer Sebasti\u00e3o Salgado<\/strong>. Together with his wife L\u00e9lia, Salgado embarked on an ambitious reforestation project on a 1,500-hectare estate in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This area had been devastated by deforestation and environmental degradation. In 1998, the Salgados founded Instituto Terra and began planting native trees. To date, they have planted over 2 million trees, transforming the area from a barren wasteland into a lush forest. This project has not only restored the local ecosystem but also revitalized water sources and improved biodiversity. The success of Instituto Terra demonstrates the power of reforestation and how a concerted effort can bring about significant positive change.<\/p>
